Speaking after visiting the Toyota Shusho Company on Thursday, Governor Jackson Mandago said farmers will get fertilizer at a subsidized price of Sh2,850.

“I want to announce to farmers in cooperatives that they should pass through the department of cooperatives in the county where they will be given a letter, and thus be able to buy fertilizers at a subsidized price of 2,850,” said the Uasin Gishu County boss.

“The fertilizer has been measured and is soil specific therefore no cause of alarm. There is specific fertilizer for maize, wheat, potatoes, and coffee,” he added.

He warned farmers against being conned by conmen purporting to sell them fertilizers in the name of helping them yet they are fake.

Mandago noted that if farmers want to solve problems facing farmers they should be in cooperatives.

Toyota Shusho fertilizer company Managing Director Kentaro Yoneda said the group is now producing 600 tonnes of fertilizer per day, adding that the fertilizer is sufficient for farmers in the North Ritft region and beyond.
