Speaking on Tuesday, the CS praised the law enforcement force for keeping the nation safe at all times.

He congratulated them on their dedication and selflessness in serving Kenyans year in year out.

“You can see we are here with you even if its the first day of the New Year. We appreciate your work," he said, according to the Standard on Wednesday.

The CS was speaking when he visited the Critical Infrastructure and Security Of Government Buildings police unit in Nairobi.

The latter was accompanied by Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet.

The new unit comes as one of the newest police groupings under the recently launched police reforms.

The unit will operate under the Administration Police (AP) unit.

Its tasked with among others, protecting critical installations in the nation.

This comes at a time when the police have been fully deployed across the nation to maintain order and safety during the now ending festive season.

Also, the force has been manning the roads in line with the reintroduction of Michuki laws, in a bid to restore sanity at a time when the nation witnesses an increase in carnage.
