Renowned 15th century playwright William Shakespeare says in one of his many plays that, 'beauty is bought by the judgement of the eye'.
There is nothing that better describes men who feast their eyes on beautiful women (kula kwa macho) than this statement.
In Thika, this so-called 'kula kwa macho' takes various shapes and forms as enumerated below.
1. Peeping at the lady when she leaves the house
Some men who are either driven by lust or have secretly fallen in love with a particular beauty say in their plots have a habit of peeping at the lady of interest everytime she leaves her house.
Men with this behaviour are mostly the kinds that cannot gather enough confidence to go and tell the lady that they are mesmerized by their glowing beauty and would want to become their 'Romeo'.
As a result, they remain to kula kwa macho tu' behind the window curtains.
2. 'Mung'etho'
In Kiganjo for instance, there are several men who only go out to the shopping centres to stare (mung'etho) at passing beautiful ladies.
It is evident that they cherish this habit going by regular comments that they make every time a beauty passes by. They will, however, never approach any lady to complement them or express their feelings towards them.
3. Admiring the lady's social media photos
While guys who frequent various 'muguka' bases around Thika go there for various reasons like chatting or betting, there are those whom when the green stimulant gets them high the only thing they think of is admiring their crush and other beautiful women on various social media platforms. They will, however, never make the first move.
