It's not because they like the jobs or the jobs have good returns, but many things have transpired to Kambas to do such odd jobs.
The situations include poverty and joblessness.
Below are the jobs you won't miss a Kamba doing in big towns:
1.Tyre repair
Kambas are highly associated with tyres, they do the job with passion.
They use the old tyres to make different products like shoes, decorative arts etc.
2. Cooking chapati
Most of the people you find making chapatis along the Mlolongo streets or other popular towns, and in small hotels are Kambas. They know how to cook such foods. High levels of joblessness have made them not to choose jobs.
3. Mitumba clothes
Kambas work hard in businesses, they are also long-distance traders.
They walk around selling mitumba clothes. The majority have built or rented small shops for the business.
4.Shoemaking, repair, and shining
Ukambani is a semi arid area especially Kitui. So every job that brings money to a Kamba is a job.
Kambas are good at repairing, shining and making shoes.
5. Vegetables.
They sell vegetables all over the big towns in Ukambani.
6. Beer business
Most of the clubs in Mlolongo, Tala, and Machakos towns are owned by Kambas. Even in Nairobi.
7. Car wash
Like I said, Kambas are hard working. You will find them nearly in every job.
They also work in all sectors including banks but above are the odd jobs you won't miss a Kamba doing.
