Governor Sang was arrested on Monday over the destruction of Kibwari Tea Estate, which is said to be sitting on grabbed land.

In a post on his Facebook page, Sudi said Sang might not have undertaken the repossession of the Kaburet Cattle Dip land in a good manner, adding that it was however within his mandate as governor to champion for the interests of the people of Nandi.

“The police should release Governor Stephen Sang immediately since he has proved to be law abiding and also given that his legal team has obtained restraining orders against arresting, prosecuting and charging him,” said Sudi.

The second-term MP wondered why the restraining order which was obtained from the Eldoret High Court at 2pm was not delivered to the Kisumu Central Police Station yet it is a two-hour drive from Eldoret to Kisumu.

Sudi noted that it was unfair for Sang to spend the night in the cells despite a court order being issued, arguing that this was an indication of how the dynasties conspire with the authorities to derail justice from being served.

The Jubilee MP also hit out at Nandi political leaders for ganging up against Governor Sang despite promising residents that they will lead in the repossession of grabbed land across the county.

“This is a very sad scenario especially to the people of Nandi Hills Constituency. Alfred Keter campaigned promising to end the operations of the cartels and grabbers in Nandi but he was seen the other day siding with the people he promised to fight against,” added Sudi.
