The incident happened in Utithini Village, Kaewa Location, Masinga Sub-County, Machakos County.

The administrator, Shadrack Maingi, claimed that he found the suspect had broken into his home in his absence.

Maingi further noted that the latter then told him to leave the premises failure to which he would kill him, before calling for help.

"He ordered me to leave or get slaughtered and I had to comply. I called the neighbors for help and they came and disarmed him,” he told the Sunday Standard.

In response to his distress calls, the villagers pounced on the suspect before killing him as they took him to a nearby police station, Masinga OCPD Francis Sirol told the paper.

The Chief said that he was returning from routine duty at around noon, only to find the uninvited guest inside his house.

The suspect had reportedly broken the lock at the main entrance before accessing the premises and was armed with a Somali sword ready to strike.

This comes amid a growing trend of civilians attacking and assaulting law enforcers, especially police officers.
