The event which is the fourth of such kind kicked off on Monday and brings together Governors, Senators, MCAs, top state and county officials and other guests.

The MCAs on Tuesday used the forum to push for among others, car grants, far from the current situation where they are instead given car loans.

“We were councillors but today we are MCAs. MCAs are honourable members and the title Hon is very expensive and it should be guarded. Our wish is to have a car grant and not a car loan,” Ms Florence Oile, a nominated MCA from Migori was quoted by the Nation.

The ward representatives noted that unlike councillors, they are handling bigger responsibilities which justifies their demand for the privilege.

They also want the parliament to expedite the enactment of the Public Finance Management Act that will enable them to work without being interfered with by county executives.

Also in their wish list is the enactment of the Ward Equitable Development Bill and the County Governments Retirement Pension bill, both of which are lying in the Senate.

The group said that they deserve an honourable life.
