The New York Times has refused to pull down a disturbing photo of the Dusit attack that attracted the ire of Kenyan social media users and a protest letter by the Media Council of Kenya (MCK).
Days after the backlash, the photo is still embedded in the paper's article posted on its website.
The photo depicts dead bodies slumped over tables of people killed by suspected Al-Shabaab militants.
A section of Kenyans has called for the New York Times to be slapped with sanctions for posting the gory image.
In a response to the massive backlash, the paper said that the decision to upload the disturbing photo came after a lot of consideration, an explanation which appears not to have placated the fury of offended Kenyans.
Suspected Al-Shabaab militants unleashed deadly terror Tuesday on innocent patrons of the DusitD2 Hotel, killing at least 21 people.
The Somalia-based group claimed responsibility for the attack.
