The students from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology stormed the hospital and demanding answers following the death of Polycarp Onyancha who nurses took too long to attend to.

"Our fellow student consumed poison but, when he was taken to the facility for treatment he was ignored for 6 hours before he was attended to. Nurses at the facility are lazy and the county government must sack them immediately," said an angry student Gideon Moi.

Mellen Motari blamed the nurses for the student's death.

"We traveled from Kakamega to Keumbu to mourn the death of our colleague. The nurses should be held accountable over his death," said Mellen.

Enock Riang'a argued that they traveled all the way from Kakamega to Keumbu to mourn the death of their colleague who died due to the nurses' negligence.

Area chief Michael Kwaba said his intervention helped in calming down the angry students.

"Students were demanding answers following the death of Onyancha who consumed poison. Nurses should stop ignoring patients," he said.

The chief said the students issued a one week ultimate for the facility's management to be changed.
