South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro now says that Deputy President William Ruto no longer needs state protection, as his supporters are ready to protect him.
This comes amid claims that top state officials have been frustrating the DP by trimming down his protection and denying him reception by local security officials in his weekly cross country engagements, as should be the case.
While visiting Nyamira and Kisii counties on Friday, the DP was assured of his security, with Osoro saying that he should feel very safe as his supporters are ready to take good care of him.
"Liwe liwalo, wakufanyie nini, wakunyime askari, wafanye kitu yoyote sisi hatujali. Sisi tuko nyuma yako, hawa ndio jeshi, hata askari wasipokuwa hapa hawa ndio watakuchunga (Whatever happens, whatever they do to you we will remain behind you. Let them deny you protection but these people will protect you; they are your army and are ready to take the place of the police in protecting you)," he said.
The youthful lawmaker also maintained that they will remain on the DP's side despite alleged incitement and walls being built between them and the DP.
Osoro claimed that they have been advised to cut links with Ruto, wondering why they are being asked to side with the President yet the two came to power as a pair.
"Biblia inatuambia tuheshimu viongozi ambao wako. Tulichagua viongozi wawili, Deputy President na President wa Kenya, inakuaje mnatuambia tuheshimu rais na kudharau Deputy President? (We elected two leaders, the President and the deputy. How come you are telling us to respect the president and despise the deputy?)," he wondered.
