Kenya Transporters Association CEO Alfayo Otuke said the move was in contravention to church's doctrines, adding that the pastors involved in the function should resign forthwith.

"The church rules are very clear. Those pastors who organised the fundraiser should be removed soonest. The church doesn't allow such moves. It's not Godly and something must be done," he argued.

Mr Otuke, formally Director of NTSA added: " As Adventists, we need to pray and fast. Such things should not be allowed by the church. It will be paramount for those involved to resign soonest."

Last weekend, Dr Ruto led a host of leaders from Gusii region in a fundraiser towards construction of South Kenya Conference offices at Nyanchwa. He gave a whopping Sh10 million in cash.

The DP's source of income has been put under scrutiny with a section of politicians accusing him of engaging in grand corruption, a claim he has persistently dismissed.

"Those who worship devil feel bad when I donate something to the church. They should just give me a break. I will continue giving back to the church no matter their ill motives," he said.
