This comes amid anticipations that President Uhuru Kenyatta might visit the county on Thursday, December 13.

Kenyatta is expected to avail himself for the official launch of the Universal Healthcare Coverage, one of his Jubilee Government's mega projects.

But according to Kisumu Police Commissioner Job Boronjo, the force has not received any official communication on the president's visit.

However, he said that the force is ready and on the standby to handle the situation should it come to that.

"We still have not received official communication. I am reading all these in newspapers. However, we are prepared for the visit," he told the Sunday Nation.

The same is the case with Nyanza regional Police Boss Leonard Katana who also said that his office is still in the dark regarding the issue.

He said that they are yet to be informed by the State House.

This comes amid reports that security has been heightened in the county, and more officers deployed to the Kisumu State Lodge, awaiting the Head of State's arrival.

The President is expected to be received by opposition leader Raila Odinga who will also accompany him in the tour.

President Kenyattta is expected to also launch a number of projects in the neighboring Siaya County where he will also visit founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga's mausoleum in Sakwa Bondo.
