In a statement, Gure condemned the incident, saying stern action would be taken against the rogue officers.

While responding to the incident, the vocal politician said that she received a call from residents at around midnight on Tuesday informing her of the assault.

"... I received a call from one of my electorates in Bura, Fafi constituency informing me about a disheartening incident where some rogue police officers have seriously beaten up Ruqa chief who was Bura for a seminar," read her statement in part.

Gure recorded the incident at Bura Police Station, where the errant officers were positively identified by the OCPD.

The chief has since been admitted at Bura hospital with severe head injuries.

He is, however, said to be in a stable condition.

Gure is now calling on the Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) to conduct speedy investigations to bring the rogue officers to book.
