Residents of Chepilat in Borabu constituency have appealed to the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i to order police officers serving in the area to conduct 24 hours patrol.
They claimed that the escalating cases of insecurity in the area is due to laxity of police officers.
"Insecurity has been at the peak in the area and this has made us to continue living in fear. We are begging Matiang'i to order security officers to intensify patrols especially at night to flush out criminals," said a local Martin Makunga.
Teresa Nyabonyi, a trader said they are being forced to close their businesses at 6 pm daily due to increased insecurity.
"We have no option rather than to close business at 6pm so that we rush to our homes before criminals take over. Matiang'i should come to our rescue," she noted.
Allan Onsombi faulted Nyamira County government for failing to light up the area.
"Criminals have been taking advantage of darkness to rob us. Governor Nyagarama must move with speed to ensure the street lights are working so that thieves can be scared," he noted.
