An elected ODM Governor from Gusii region has warned political rivals against ignoring and dismissing the unity among Gusii elected leaders.
Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi while addressing mourners at Nyansiongo area during the burial of Hon Patrick Osero's his mother Mama Peninah Osero said the unity is unstoppable.
"We can't waste time uniting as leaders. Rivals who are ongoing criticizing the move by elected Gusii leaders to unite will be caught up in a surprise when the unity will grow to be a big thing in the community politics," he said.
Maangi challenged local leaders in Nyamira and Kisii counties to consider backing the unity movement ahead of the 2022 general elections.
"There is need for leaders from community to be united and speak in one voice for the purpose of negotiating for the national cake. It is high time local politicians to back the unity movement and stop unnecessary criticism," added Maangi.
Maangi who has declared interest to run for Kisii Governor's seat in 2022 urged elected leaders to ignore opponents who are out to spread propaganda to the electorates.
"Elected leaders must focus on development and shun divisive politics. 2017 political losers should wait for 2022 to try their luck," said Maangi.
