Police have been doing deep investigations since Tuesday when the journalist’s lover was arrested in connection with the murder.

After he was arrested and grilled, police started hunting down Maribe to also help in investigations.

Of interest to police were two things: 1) a gunshot wound on the suspect's left chest and the whereabouts of the cloths he was wearing on Wednesday September 19.

That was the night Nyawira was murdered.

A police source said the suspect and Maribe misled the police on the turn of events that led to the shooting.

They told police that he had been shot at the gate after dropping Maribe on Friday morning, September 21.

A househelp, however, spilled the beans about the two lovers.

Her statement helped police recover a gun from Maribe’s neighbour after it emerged that the shooting might have occurred inside Maribe’s house after an altercation between the lovers.

Police have since developed a theory that the man was attempting suicide.

The househelp also told officers of ‘clothes that were burnt behind the house’.

The charred clothes have since been taken for an analysis to establish if they are the ones the suspect was wearing during the shooting incident as well as whether a white kanzu, he is said to have been seen sporting the night Monica was killed, is among those burnt.

There is also a bag that the maid said she ‘I have never seen it in the house’.

Police suspect the handbag might have been taken from the slain woman’s house by her callous killer.

Jacque now will on Monday, according to police, be charged as an accessory to the murder.
