Kenyans are gearing up to the new year 2019, as 2018 is coming to an end.
Politically, 2018 has been full of political activities and actions that shaped the country in various ways.
Top politicians among them former Vice President and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka made political statements that in a way shaped the country.
However, 2018 has not been rossy for Kalonzo Musyoka who is also the Ukambani political kingpin.
The former Vice President found himself in political trouble early in the year.
Here is Kalonzo's action that angered his supporters and threatened to end his political career in 2018.
On January 30, 2018, Kalonzo shocked his supporters when he skipped NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga's swearing in as the People's President.
Kalonzo surprisingly skipped the swearing-in at Uhuru Park in Nairobi, a move that saw him criticized by NASA politicians and supporters.
The former Vice President who was then the NASA's presidential running mate was expected to take oath alongside Raila Odinga.
Kalonzo, Amani National Congress (ANC) Party leader Musalia Mudavadi, and Ford Kenya Party leader Moses Wetangula skipped the swearing in that the Jubilee government had termed treasonous.
Kalonzo, Mudavadi, and Wetangula were branded cowards and traitors with calls from NASA supporters for them to quit the alliance.
The Wiper leader was also ridiculed by his rival Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua who allegedly referred to him as a political coward.
Kalonzo in his defense claimed that Mudavadi, Wetangula and himself had been put under house arrest during Raila's controversial oathing.
NASA leader Raila Odinga later came to Kalonzo's defense, noting that the former Vice President would be sworn in later as the People's Deputy President.
Kalonzo later said he skipped Raila's swearing-in because it was not the right thing to do.
Political pundits then argued that Kalonzo had "killed" himself politically by skipping the swearing in and that he had betrayed the ODM chief.
Some political analysts even argued that Raila will not honor the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) he signed with Kalonzo to support him in 2022.
Kalonzo is now among the top politicians who have declared their interests in the 2022 presidential election.
The Wiper party leader says it is time for him to ascend to power.
