Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wa is expected to lead a team of leaders from his Kiambu backyard in welcoming the DP when he will officiate at the homecoming ceremony of Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro to be held at Gaturi Primary School grounds on Saturday.

Nyoro, whose homecoming event will be held over the weekend,  is a first time MP elected on a Jubilee party ticket and is among MPs from Central Kenya drumming up support for Ruto's 2022 State House bid.

The MP in a Facebook post on Tuesday said the event will kick off at exactly 12pm and will be graced by local artists before speeches roll out.

And among MPs expected to grace the event is Ichung'wa who has been at the forefront defending Ruto from critics who he says are out to frustrate the DP's quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

There are sharp divisions in Central Kenya where a section of leaders are in support of Ruto's 2022 presidential bid while others are against his quest to ascend to State House. Also in the list of MPs set to attend Saturday event is outspoken Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

Ichung'wa is also among Central Kenya leaders who have made it to the list of Ruto's likely deputies in 2022.
