A section of Kipkenyo residents on Friday held a demonstration at Langas trading centre and called for the transfer of area Officer Commanding Police Station (OCS) whom they accused of releasing three murder suspects.
The three, according to the locals were involved in the murder of a bodaboda operator.
Speaking to the press at the Langas police station, the locals said the OCS has failed in his mandate, therefore, needs to be transferred.
They also blocked the Eldoret-Ndalat road for over 8 hours calling for justice for the deceased.
Led by Kipkenyo Ward Representative Hillary Rono, the locals lamented that despite the police arresting the suspects involved in the murder of Philip Kiplagat of Tuiyobei centre they later released them.
"We are giving the Interior Cabinet Secretary, County Commissioner and the Directorate of Criminal Investigation(DCI) five days to intervene and ensure the culprits are brought to book failure to which we will camp at the police station until justice is done," said Rono.
"Seriously how can you release murder suspects yet the case is still in court. We want the three suspects to be re-arrested and charged," he added.
The three were to be arraigned in court last Wednesday but they were released under unclear circumstances, according to the locals.
Eldoret South OCPD Wilson Waqo Abduba said that the three suspects were mistakenly released by a police officer and noted that stern actions have already been taken against the officer involved.
He further reiterated that he will ensure that the culprits are rearrested.
The bodaboda operator was killed at Tuiyobei centre in Kipkenyo ward while he was at work by people purported to be passengers.
