1. PeleEdson Arantes Do Nascimento aka Pele first played in the world cup at the age 17 years and 233 days old. The Brazilian magician still holds the record of most goals scored for his national team. He is the only young player at his age to lift a world cup trophy.
2. Salomon OlembeIn 1998 in France, Salomon played for his team Cameroon at the age of 17 years and 183 days. He becomes the fourth youngest player to ever play in a world cup tournament. The 37-year-old has played for country 64 times.
3. Femi OpabunmiThe Nigeria man is the third youngest football player to ever play in a world cup match. The 33 years old retired from international football with an eye problem in 2006. He joined international football at the age of 17 years and 99 days in the 2002 World Cup in Japan.
4. Samuel EtooThe Cameroon football legend is the second youngest player to ever play in a world cup match. He played in 1998 world cup tournament in France at the age of 17 years 97 days. However, it was a poor start for him as his country lost 3-0 to Italy.
5. Norman WhitesideHe holds the record of the youngest player to ever play in a world cup match. He played in the 1982 Spain world cup. The North Ireland man played for his team against the former Yugoslavia at the age of 17 years and 41 days.
