Agitated motorbike riders barricaded Metamaywa-Mosobeti highway over President Uhuru Kenyatta's decision to sign into law controversy Finance Bill.
Even after protests in parliament, Uhuru assented the Bill into law on Friday morning.
Led by Kevin Mabeta, the protesters who remained determined chanted anti-Jubilee songs with some calling for immediate resignation of the president.
They warned the government against over-borrowing with some demanding that MPs initiate impeachment motion against Speaker Justin Muturi.
"Everything is now becoming difficult. We don't have money to educate children and prices of basic commodities have gone higher," Mabeta said.
"The MPs voted against the bill even a blind Kenyan could see. A government that even dictates parliament does not have a future.
For the better part of the drama, a section of civilians joined as transport remained paralysed.
"The president has no moral authority to lead us. He should resign honorably," protested James Oremo, a resident.
However, normalcy returned after Mr. Mabeta vowed to lead the team to Sub County Commissioner's office next week to submit a petition.
Most of the leaders from the region among them Nyamira Women Rep Jerusha Momanyi and area MP Shadrack Mose opposed new VAT on petroleum products.
Area Assistant County Commissioner Verona Wangui could not be reached for comment.
