President Uhuru Kenyatta has run out of patience over the ongoing early campaigns thus his fury on Sunday at Kasarani Stadium, spokesperson Kanze Dena has said.
Speaking in his native Kikuyu language, a furious Uhuru directed his anger to a group of MPs allied to DP William Ruto, accusing them of undermining him.
Mr Kenyatta warned that he will be forced to descend into villages where they come from, adding that he will deal with them before 2022 polls.
“These thugs that we elected are busy politicking. They should not think I am their boy, they will not stop me from constructing roads. They didn’t look for votes on my behalf. I went looking for my votes. These rubbish should stop bothering me,” said Kenyatta.
The speech has since caused anxiety within Jubilee with those targeted asking Uhuru to convene a Jubilee party Parliamentary Group meeting.
But State House spokesperson Kanze Dena on Tuesday said the Head of State will not take anymore from those engaged in early campaigns.
“The President is a very patient person. But he is being put off by constant politicking at a time when the focus should be on development.
"His Sunday statement was to show that everything has reached an elastic limit; that politics will never be prioritised over development,” Ms Dena-Mararo said during a press briefing at State House.
DP William Ruto has been accused of spearheading early campaigns, a move that may have informed Uhuru's fury to his team.
