The attack that took Kenya by surprise on 15th January 2019 has been linked to the United States of America President Donald Trump's decision.
Alshabaab earlier had claimed responsibility of the attack on Dusit Hotel complex in 14 Riverside drive, now they claim it is a response to America's decision to declare Jerusalem the capital City of Israel.
In a statement released by Alshabaab, the Nairobi attack was labelled "operation Al Qudsi Lan Tuhawwad (Jerusalem will never be judaized) " and stating it was in response to "witness remarks" to President Trump acknowledging Jerusalem as Israel's Capital.
CNN reported that the group targeted Western and Zionist interests worldwide..in support of our Muslim families in Palestine."An American and a Briton were among the people killed when armed militants targeted the DusitD2 compound Tuesday, an upmarket cluster of shops and hotel facilities in the Kenyan capital." reads CNN article.
The controversial decision was made by the United States President Trump on December 6, 2017, to declare Jerusalem the capital of Israel and further ordering the US Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv which is the second most populous city in Israel to Jerusalem.
This made the President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine to demand America should be sidelined is the peace talk and according to Alshabaab, the attack was a reminder to the United States that they were hurt by the move.
