Duale says that Ngunyi’s statement is an opinion that means nothing to him.

The Jubilee MP said that he is being attacked for his stand against the referendum push.

He stated that he will not be intimidated in his push to oppose the referendum.

The Jubilee MP said that his stand on referendum cannot be swayed, adding that he represents the interests of millions of Kenyans.

“Mutahi Ngunyi and others can say whatever they want to say but my stand and that of North Eastern residents and majority Kenyans on referendum will not change," he fired.

Duale said that Kenyans are not ready for referendum and cannot be forced to take part in it.

The Garissa MP maintained that those advocating for a referendum have other hidden agenda.

“We cannot force Kenyans to something they are not ready for and as such I will continue to oppose it,” he said.

Duale says that there is a plot to merge and reduce the number of constituencies in North Eastern Kenya.

He also alleges that those pushing for referendum are bargaining power in 2022.

Last week, Mutahi Ngunyi in his weekly 5th Estate show claimed that Duale will be reduced to an MCA if the referendum push sails through.

Ngunyi while supporting the referendum push said that Kenyans want a change in the governance structure.
