Former Subukia MP Koigi Wa Wamwere has revealed how he once overcame a bribery attempt in parliament during his tenure.
Wamwere who served between 1979-1982 and 2002-2007 was also in the parliamentary health committee where he claims the then Minister of Health tried to bribe him.
Speaking on Radio Sauti ya Mwananchi's 'Cheche' on Saturday, Miguna narrated that his committee was on the verge of banning a medicine company which had supplied killer medicines to the country.
The unnamed minister, he claims, was sent to bribe him to prevent the looming ban and exposure, adding that he was offered 75, 000 shillings paraded as a 'gift'.
"I was in the health committee and we were actually in session when the minister signalled me to join him out. He then offered me money in a khaki envelope, terming it a gift," he said.
"I rejected it but would later realise that it was a bribe from a medical pharmaceutical company which had sold us medicine that killed patients in Tambach. We were discussing the issue at the time of the incident," he revealed.
He revealed that some of his colleagues in parliament, however, couldn't resist the temptation, narrating how a host crossed the floor after being bribed by one of the major political sides then.
Some, he said, were given pieces of land while others received money.
