They said there is a need for Kwa Ndoo and Kwa Mulei dams to be desilted ahead of the forthcoming rainy season.

Led by Jackson Kitoo, the locals said there is a need for the Machakos government to urgently intervene into the matter to enable the dams to hold water once it rains.

This is in a bid to ensure that the residents who benefit from the two dams won’t face water scarcity after the rains.

‘’October rains are approaching and yet the two dams haven’t been desilted. That way, they won’t be capable of holding more water after the rains. Residents will face water scarcity, that’s why we are urging the Machakos government to respond immediately," Kitoo said.

Kitoo said water problem will be a thing of the past if the county government desilt the two dams.

He said the residents have been undergoing difficulties in their quest to get water since some are forced to walk long distances to acquire the commodity.

‘’Some of us have been forced to walk long distances to get water because we used to depend on these two dams for the commodity but now since they were displaced we are facing difficulties," he said.
