According to the paper sent by Uhuru to National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi which has been seen by this writer, the President recommends revision of mobile phone transaction excise duty to 20% from 10%, bank transaction 20% & phone, internet costs 15%.

Gamblers will also face the government’s knife as there will be a 20% tax on what they win.

The new revelations will make Kenyans angrier bearing in mind that the 8% VAT is already too much a burden to the common mwananchi.

MP had vowed to stand with Kenyans and vote to suspend the recommendations but a Parliamentary Group meeting held by Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta with legislators from their respective parties.

The MPs were whipped to support the Finance Bill where it comes for the vote on Thursday.
