This comes amid the apparently widening rift between Ruto and President Uhuru Kenyatta who had promised to back his 2022 bid, but who now appear noncommittal.

Speaking on Saturday, he noted that in the instance that Ruto becomes overwhelmed by the pressure from the rival team, which he said might include Uhuru and opposition leader Raila Odinga, he might have to give up his bid.

According to Manyora, Ruto's option, in this case, would be Mudavadi.

"If Ruto realizes that he has been surrounded and cannot make it, he will most likely endorse Mudavadi, just to give the other team a hard time and a run for their money," he said.

"Greatness is coming his way, he is a son to a former bigwig and will soon be great," said Manyora, explaining that Mudavadi has everything he needs to become president.

Manyora was speaking on his YouTube channel Take it Or Leave It, posted on Saturday morning.

But this comes at a time when the two leaders seem to be on different sides, especially on the ongoing fight against corruption, with Ruto's side opposed to the purge.

On the other hand, Mudavadi has been calling for punitive measures against the corrupt.
