Popular human rights activist Boniface Mwangi will on Tuesday lead Kisumu residents in demonstrating against the alleged grabbing of public land in the county.
The activist noted that he will lead the protests following the alleged grabbing of land said to belong to Maseno School, which he says is presently under the hands of a private developer.
Mwangi made the remarks after arriving in the lakeside city for what he described as his usual "photography work".
"I have arrived in Kisumu for photography work and the great people of this city have invited me for a protest," he posted on his Twitter handle.
"A private developer wants to grab Maseno school for the deaf. Peaceful protest is happening at the school tomorrow (Tuesday), 10:00am. Governor Prof Anyang' Nyong'o you are invited," he added.
Mwangi will hold the demos before flying back to Nairobi where he is again scheduled to hold another demonstration outside the Uganda High Commission, to agitate for the release of Uganda MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine. The demo will be held on Wednesday.
The MP is currently being held at a highly secure military detention camp in Makindye in the outskirts of Kampala, Uganda's capital.
Bobi was arrested six days ago following violent protests that rocked Uganda's North Western town of Arua in the last day of campaigns for the Arua Municipality by-election.
