Noor says that the looming strike called by KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion will cripple learning.

She wants Sossion to agree and negotiate with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the government.

The MP, who spoke to Journalists in Ijara town on Monday, said that dialogue will avert the strike.

"The government must urgently initiate dialogue with KNUT to avert the strike that could paralyze learning in public primary and secondary schools, "she said.

Noor said that issues being raised by teachers are serious and the government cannot ignore them.

The Ijara MP said that the education sector needs to remain stable for good performance in national exams.

Last week, KNUT announced teachers strike starting January 2, 2019.

The teachers union is raising concerns over mass transfers of teachers and what it terms as mistreatment of tutors.

Sossion says that the mass transfer of teachers is illegal and must be stopped.

The KNUT Secretary General claims that TSC is effecting transfers to punish teachers.

Labour Cabinet Secretary (CS) Ukur Yattani has formed a conciliation committee to look into the issues being raised by KNUT in efforts to avert the looming strike.

KNUT has, however, rubbished the formation of the committee terming it a waste of time.

Learning could be paralysed if teachers go on with their planned strike.
