This comes after Maangi on Thursday hosted DP Ruto at his rural home in Riogongera.

Maangi told a gathering that leaders should work as a team to serve the electorates.

"We should work together irrespective of our political parties and ensure our people are getting quality services. Those dictating others on who they should work with must stop this," he said.

Maangi reiterated that Kenyans will not be divided along political lines. He called on elected leaders to stand firm and ensure they articulate issues affecting residents at the grassroots.

"Leaders should be at the forefront of serving the electorates and fighting impunity. Divisive politics will derail development in this country. Youths should be engaged to ensure no one loses hope in the society," he added.

The DG said Kisii County government will use the funds sent from the national government to launch various projects across the county for the sake of boosting the livelihoods of the people.

"No single cent will be wasted. The money we are receiving from the national government will be used wisely to fund projects which will benefit our people," he said.

Leaders who attended the event include MPs Richard Onyonka of Kitutu Chache South, Sylvanus Osoro of South Mugiirango, Kisii County Jubilee party Youth secretary-general Isaac Motari among other.

Raila had earlier warned Maangi over his closeness to Ruto, saying the deputy governor should instead focus on helping his boss Governor James Ongwae to empower the electorates and not loitering around with the DP Ruto.

“Loitering around with Ruto is unacceptable and may end up putting you in trouble. Focus on service delivery and support your boss fully to boost the lives of Kisii people,” said Raila in reference to Maangi.
