This is being changed by several social enterprises and locals like the 26-year-old Stephen Okoth.

Donning bright mitumba cloths, Okoth is a local celebrity who is taking great pictures in the largest informal settlement in East Africa. He moves from one location to another taking photos that he hopes will bring the bright and lively side of Kibera.

The dedicated photographer and filmmaker states that he is out to prove wrong those who think Kibera is a home of abject poverty.

The tall and dark gentleman was born and raised in the Kibera he loves. 

He however acknowledges the challenge that drugs pose to young men and women in Kibera. He vowed to change Kibera’s reputation.

Okoth shops in the famous Gikomba where he gets a collection of his striking outfits. He is forced to put on a different outfit each day.

Interestingly, he once tried to quit this fashion but he was compelled by locals to return to his trademark because they found him boring in normal cloths.
