A police officer was on Tuesday arraigned before a Homa Bay court to face robbery with violence charges.
The prosecution side alleged that Vincent Ochieng' on April 24, 2018, robbed businessman Chrispine Ochieng' of his belongings worth Sh110, 000.
The suspect was accused of robbing the complainant of his phone worth Sh7, 000 and money amounting to Sh84, 000.
Homa Bay Senior Principal Magistrate Thomas Obutu heard that the suspect committed the crime at Adiedo Trading Center in Rachunyo North.
According to prosecutor Hellen Githaiga, the accused committed the crime while in the company of others not presented before court.
He was reportedly off duty at the time of the crime, and is a resident of Kanyaluo in Rachuonyo North Sub-county.
Ochieng' pleaded not guilty and was released on a Sh200, 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.
