This is despite the hue and cry among Kenyans that has been occasioned by the unpopular move.

Those living within Eldoret town will now be forced to dig deeper into their pockets after town service matatu operators hiked the fares.

With the reality of the fuel prices sinking in, some locals were on Tuesday forced to trek to their workplaces as they could not be able to bear with the new prices.

A spot check conducted on major town service bus stages indicate that fare prices have been increased by at least Sh10.

It will now cost you Sh40 to travel from Eldoret town to the University of Eldoret at Chepkoilel, up from the previous Sh30 while from town to Kuinet is now Sh60 from Sh50 that was previously charged.

Similarly, those travelling from Eldoret town to KCC and Eldoret town-Maili Nne routes will have to part ways with Sh40 for the fare up from Sh30, with the same case for those travelling to Kapsoya estate from Eldoret.

If you are boarding a matatu to town from any of the estates along the Eldoret-Iten road, Kapsoya estate, Langas or from KCC route, you will part ways with Sh30 from the previous Sh30.

Travelling to Langas estate and its environs from Eldoret town will now cost you Sh40, irrespective of whether you are using a bus or a matatu. previously it was Sh20 using a bus and Sh25 on matatus.
