Veteran politician Koigi Wa Wamwere has called upon President Uhuru Kenyatta to resign from his position alongside his deputy William Ruto.
Speaking on Saturday, the former Subukia lawmaker called for the exit of the Jubilee leadership, for allegedly failing in its main role which is protecting and sustaining its subjects.
In reference to the acute water and food shortage reported in Turkana and Baringo counties, he observed that the governmemt has failed and has no business being in operation.
"It is the role of the government to ensure that its people are protected from hunger and other calamities and since Jubilee seems to have failed, Uhuru and team have no other option but to resign," he said.
Wamwere was speaking on Radio Sauti ya Mwananchi's Cheche show, Saturday evening.
"In developed countries, leaders do not wait to be told to resign when they fail. Its a shock that here we have leaders comfortably seated and watching as the people they should be protecting are dying," he added.
He also bashed Kenyans for doing nothing to make the government accountable.
He faulted Kenyans, noting that most do not even care that their fellow countrymen are suffering, well within the Kenyan boundaries.
"The sad part is that out people to do not seem to care and consequently, the government doesn't see any need to take responsibility since there is no pressure," added Wamwere.
Latest reports indicate that nine people have lost their lives in Baringo county.
About 900, 000 people from 12 counties are also in danger of dying due to the same calamity.
