The joint force by Members of the National Assembly and Senate saw the group allocate itself Sh250,000 each for house allowance, dating back to late last year.

But the veteran politician now says that though the move is bad for the taxpayer, the group will realize it and many more in the future, because no hurdles lie on their path.

Koigi said that its only President Uhuru Kenyatta who could have talked the MPs out of the move but claimed the president is also involved, after been given an additional pay.

Consequently, he said, Uhuru lacks any moral authority to speak on the issue and should be expected to watch silently as the taxpayer carries more burden to fund the new pay.

"Uhuru hana nguvu yoyote ya kuongelea haya mambo ama mengine yoyote yanayohusiana na malipo ya wabunge maana pia yeye ameongezwa na amenyamazia. (Uhuru lacks the authority to speak on this or any other issue to do with MPs salaries because his too has been increased and he has remained silent on it)," Koigi at Radio Sauti Ya Mwananchi's Cheche Show on Saturday evening.

He noted that Uhuru's only way to save Kenyans would be to dissolve the parliament which is also a no go zone, as he too is not sure he can secure reelection.

"Hawezi akawaambia wasijiongeze mshahara. Njia pekee ni kuvunjilia bunge, ila pia yeye anahofia hatarudi (He cannot reprimand them, which only leaves him with the option of dissolving the parliament, but is also afraid of losing his seat)," noted the former MP.

Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto have also been given an additional 3.9 per cent pay RISE, after their salary cut in the run-up to the 2017 elections.
