A day after the minister in charge of Trade and Tourism disowned Miss Tourism Nyamira County exercise, the area assembly has taken up the matter for investigations.
Ms. Bernadette Ogega, a former Miss Tourism, Masinde Muliro University, was crowned winner in an event carried out in top secrecy in a Nairobi hotel.
And with residents poking holes at the exercise, Tourism minister Peter Muga said: "I am not aware of such an exercise. Maybe we ask director and chief officer."
The Director in the department, Peter Kerina also dismissed the event, accusing social media users of maligning his name.
And with the mystery deepening, Majority Leader Duke Masira, in a statement tabled at the assembly, demanded to know what transpired.
"Mr. Speaker, I want to know where, when and how the Miss Tourism Nyamira County exercise was conducted. Also, I want to know how much money was incurred."
A former beauty pageant winner Maureen Venessa said that Miss Tourism Kenya in collaboration with Vera Beauty College had called for auditions after the county delayed in conducting the exercise.
And it's in those auditions held in 15th September that four contestants were picked, a statement refuted by a host of locals.
