In a move that is set change the face of Garissa politics, Duale's self-described son, Noor Arafat Abdullahi, has reached to the Wiper Deputy party leader Farah Maalim over what is said to be unity talks.
It is widely alleged that the move to reconcile the seasoned politician who is also a former National Assembly speaker of the national assembly with the Garissa Township MP Aden Duale follows reports that the incumbent MP is headed for a higher seat in the next general elections.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the Township MP is eyeing the gubernatorial seat in the 2022 elections, a position that is currently held by Ali Korane.
Going by this, it will now mean that Farah Maalim will have a better chance to succeed Duale in the Township's legislative seat after losing in two consecutive attempts.
Farah Maalim is one of Duale's hard-line critics in the region.
The two have been reading from different political scripts for over a decade now.
They have in the past taken on each other in a number of court battles, with the latest being an election petition that Duale was eventually declared the victor.
It is, however, a matter of time before the matter on the alleged peace and unity talks between Arafat and Maalim come public.
