Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has shed more light on his list of shame said to carry the names of corruption suspects involved in the maize scandal at the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).
The county boss recently threatened to expose the maize cartels who allegedly drew millions of shillings by delivering suspiciously huge volumes of maize to the board's depots across the nation.
Speaking on Radio Citizen on Friday morning, Mutua revealed that his list is made up of powerful figures in both public and private sectors, including parliamentarians, Cabinet Secretaries, and company heads.
"My list has Senators, Cabinet Secretaries and bosses of big companies throughout the nation among others. I have since passed it to the relevant authorities for further investigations," Mutua said.
He noted that the same has directly affected his constituents involved in maize production, who now have no market for their produce.
Mutua also pledged support for President Uhuru Kenyatta on his reignited war against corruption, lauding his newly proposed lifestyle audit aimed at flashing out corrupt state officials.
"We cannot allow a few people to import maize and sell it to the NCPB while our local farmers, specifically my farmers in Machakos, have nowhere to take their produce. For this, I support the lifestyle audit to nab people who have ripped from the saga," Mutua added.
He claimed to have been the first one to propose the audit before Kenyatta officially adopted it.
