Education stake holders in Homabay County have every reason to smile, after the devolved unit produced the best candidate in Luo Nyanza in the recently announced 2018 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).
James Sewe got a total of 445 marks to emerge the leading candidate in the four Luo Nyanza counties of Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Siaya.
Sewe got 8 marks less than the two leading candidates who got 453 marks. He sat for KCPE exams early this month at St Peter’s Cape View Academy, in Homabay.
He was closely followed by Reuben Onyango Ombura who got 444 marks at the M.M. Shah Primary School in Kisumu County.
“I am really happy with my results. I really want to thank God for the results that he has given unto me. Usain Bolt once said that it is not the race that is hard; it is the preparation,” Ombura told journalists in Kisumu on Monday.
“The preparation was really tough but the teachers supported me and I am happy that I have not let them down. I wish to go to my school of choice which is Alliance Boys High school. When I grow up I want to become a doctor and I will keep on studying hard,” he added.
