Rabson Anzetse was charged with fraudulently obtaining Sh136,000 from Ann Natian Kashimri by claiming that he had been involved in a serious accident.

The accused, who was arrested on Monday, was arraigned before Nairobi Principal Magistrate Martha Anyona Nazushi.

The court heard that Anzetse allegedly lied to the complainant that he was admitted at a Kisumu hospital after the accident, before proceeding to defraud her, reports Citizen Digital.

He was also charged with impersonating an officer from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), crimes said to have been committed between May 30 and June 7.

Anzeste who was released on bail is accused of committing the second charge in collaboration with other suspects who were not presented before the court.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on Sh400,000 cash bail.

The hearing has been set for July 17, 2019.
