Millionaire businessman Don Bosco Gichana was officially elevated to Abagusii elder status, after five years in Tanzania prison.
Upon his homecoming on Friday, thousands of his fans both from Kisii and Nyamira gathered at his Rikenye home, where he also got a chance to lay a wreath on his mother's grave.
Mr. Bosco was released last month after pleading guilty to money laundering and fraud charges, even though he maintains that it was witch hunt from a section of local politicians.
Although widely snubbed by local leaders, Bosco was formally administered by the elders, who also blessed his political endeavours.
Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi were among high profile guests who witnessed the event.
At Gusii stadium later on, Bosco fired back at local politicians, questioning their intent to block gin from accessing the stadium.
Mr. Gichana also hailed ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto along with Musyoka for their concerted effort to have him released.
Although he did not immediately reveal his next move, Bosco said he's now interested in uniting Abagusii before 2022 polls.
