Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has congratulated Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party leader Raila Odinga for his appointment as the African Union High Representative for Infrastructure.
Passaris observes that Raila’s appointment will benefit Kenya and Africa as a whole.
Speaking in Komarock in Nairobi on Wednesday, Passaris described Raila as a distinguished and respected African leader.
“The appointment is welcomed and we wish him all the best as our party leader and Kenyan leader,” she said.
Passaris asked Kenyans to support Raila in his new appointment.
She also asked politicians to stop debating Raila’s appointment and give him space to deliver on his new role.
Raila was last week appointed as AU High Representative in charge of Infrastructure and development.
His appointment has been confirmed by AU chairman Moussa Faki.
The opposition leader has since accepted the appointment.
Kibera MP Ken Okoth is among politicians who have so far congratulated Raila on his appointment.
