Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko on Tuesday evening gave Kenyans a glimpse of his wealth which he said runs into billions of shillings.
In an interview on NTV's SideBar show, Sonko carried tens of title deeds of prime pieces of land in Kwale, Mombasa, Mavoko and Nairobi CBD.
The Nairobi county boss had been tasked by the show's interviewer, Ken Mijungu over his perceived massive wealth.
"This is another 7.3 hectares of land on the cliff, I bought it around 10 million and I can now sell it at 50 million per acre," Sonko said as he displayed title deeds one after the other.
Sonko said he makes his money by buying and reselling the property which he says that he was taught by his deceased father.
The flashy politician, who appeared on the show donned in gold rings and a gold watch said he has dollars in several bank accounts amounting to billions.
"I have money in the banks worth Nairobi County's annual budget," he said.
The Daily Nation had on Tuesday reported that Sonko is under investigation by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission over his massive wealth.
