Former Bomet governor Isaac Ruto is one of the strongest political icons in the Rift Valley region and the entire country.
He is known for his rebellious nature and as a strong defender of his opinions.
Isaac Ruto lost his seat as the Bomet governor during the 2017 general elections after a fierce political fight with Jubilee candidate Dr Joyce Laboso.
Shortly before the elections, he ditched the URP party to form his own Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) which later teamed up with the opposition’s NASA coalition.
All along, up to the general elections, Isaac Ruto was engaging in nasty political fights with his nemesis and political sibling William Ruto and even claimed that the DP was plotting to rig him out.
He was later beaten by Laboso and also NASA lost the presidential seat.
The former county boss returned to his home party shortly before the re-run of the presidential elections and he received a warm welcome maintaining that his CCM party will remain intact.
In November 2018, Isaac Ruto hosted DP Ruto in his Chepalungu constituency and the two buried their political hatchet and promised to work together henceforth. There have been reports that Isaac Ruto might get a Cabinet Secretary position in the alleged looming Cabinet reshuffle by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
However, I am very sure that Isaac Ruto will make a major comeback in 2022 and will win any position he will decide to vie for within Bomet County.
A section of Bomet residents have come out to express their dissatisfaction on the current county government and they have said that they dearly miss the leadership of Isaac Ruto.
