Eldoret town as long as it has existed has never seen numerous awards and attention as it does now thanks to the effort put in by the County Government of Uasin Gishu.
Uasin Gishu has received several awards in the recent past. First, it was identified as the second best investor friendly county and then it was ranked as the third-best urban area.
Eldoret and by extension Uasin Gishu as a whole has since proven to stand out. This and other favourable factors have seen the Senators choosing it to be the first county to host Senate sittings outside Nairobi.
The weeklong sitting that will start from 24th September to 1st October is one of the major milestones to the county of champions. The initiative dubbed 'Senate Mashinani' was established recently to have sittings across all the counties in the country as a way of having a first-hand experience of devolution.
The visit by the senators will by a huge margin improve the status of the county as it is historic and this will lead to deliberations that directly affect the people of Uasin Gishu, looking at the proximity of issues discussed in relation to solving them.
Among the factors that contributed to the historic choice of the city is the ample environment which runs from the availability of state of the art hotels, availability of good infrastructure, tourist and cultural sites and best to mention accessibility of the county through the Eldoret International Airport.
The county’s political goodwill and stability that has embraced peace is another factor that has attracted visitors, the hospitality of the people which is always top notch has brought cohesion among the cosmopolitan society. This has brought investors and other friends to the county.
The relationship between the County Executive and the County Assembly stands at its own par, being the best and tightly conjoined. This is a factor that has so much spread the gospel of success and development as there is a continuous flow of development due to the great collaboration.
Being the first County to host the first Private Economic Zone, this portrays the ability of Uasin Gishu to attract more investors from within the country and even abroad. This is attested through the numerous investors who have shown their interest in establishing themselves in the region.
Recently, Governor Jackson Mandago sealed a deal with Swedish investors who are soon rolling their sleeves on waste recycling project plant which will, in turn, generate electricity that will be injected into the National Grid.
Later this year, the county will host the biggest Jua Kali, NguvuKaziexpo which will attract many exhibitors from the East African region. This will open up Eldoret to larger markets for their products.
What does all this then mean to the county? Development, growth and an attractive environment for investors. This definitely defines Uasin Gishu as the GO-TO COUNTY, an example to all and a choice for everybody.
