Kassim confronted Gedi at the parliament parking lot on her way to a committee meeting. He wanted an answer to why she didn’t push for his constituency to be allocated funds being a member of the budget committee.

Gedi wanted to explain but instead, the MP lost his temper and attacked her. He punched her twice in the face leaving her bleeding profusely.

This incidence has been greatly criticized by both male and female legislators and Kenyans at large.

The National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi condemned incident terming it a “criminal act.”

Kassim went against all codes of conduct to hit his colleague, a woman without any mistake. This case should be taken seriously to teach others who might think off doing the same thing a lesson.

He should be suspended from his position pending investigations into this matter. It is high time the government starts acting as they promised Kenyans rather than doing the talking.

Acting once will be a good lesson to restore the Leadership Code of conduct which most politicians are going against.
