Luo musicians have also benefitted from the same, especially in the entertainment sector, with some of their songs penetrating into the national charts.

Here are some of the best Luo songs that did very well nationally, despite being done in the Luo language.

1. Unbwogable

Unbwogable was the biggest hit in the nation throughout the 2002 campaign period.

It was pro former President Mwai Kibaki's opposition side that sought to end retired President Daniel Moi's 24 year rule.

Unbwogable is the mixture of Luo and English words which, therefore, means 'unshakable', coming from Luo word 'bwogo' (shake), and was done by the Gidigidi and Majimaji duo.

2. NASA Tibiim

The Onyi Jalamo mega hit was the biggest campaign song in the concluded 2017 general polls.

It was composed in honour of opposition leader Raila Odinga and his National Super Alliance (NASA) brigade.

It was used in almost all opposition rallies, and by other candidates seeking positions on the opposition parties' tickets.

3. Bank Otuch

The rap song originating from a collaboration between rappers Octopizzo and Vicmass Luodollar also took the nation by storm.

Bank Otuch simply translates to 'the bank is leaking', with the duo using the largest portion of the track to boast about their monetary power.
