Mr Peter Tabichi, the Keriko Secondary School teacher who scooped Sh100 million top teacher award, will be landing at JKIA on Wednesday afternoon from Dubai, it has emerged.
The Maths and Physics teacher was fetted in Dubai on Sunday after beating 10,000 other people to be crowned the best teacher in the world. It was the first time a Kenyan won the prize.
And his MCA at Kemera Mr George Morara, said that hundreds of Nyamira residents have travelled to Nairobi to receive him, adding that Education minister Prof George Magoha will be part of the team.
"We spoke on Tuesday and get said he will arrive at 2pm today. We have taken family and friends to JKIA so that we can give him a good reception. We also have a host of Nyamira leaders.
"I am told the President has also instructed education CS George Magoha to come along. Chances are that he would visit State House today or tomorrow," he said.
The Wiper MCA also said that Nyamira leaders would accompany the top teacher to his school on Saturday before organising a major homecoming and Kemera ward, his native.
Before traveling to UAE, Morara noted, Mr Tabichi was treated to a prayer ceremony at his Kemera home where his home mates prayed for his success.
"This isn't the first time. We hosted him and we shall do it immediately he's through with Nakuru event. He was born and raised in Nyamira. That's what we must do. He's a role model to many," he said.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama sent goodwill messages on Monday following Tabichi's honour in United Arab Emirates.
