A furious South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has denied reports linking him with a clash of ideologies with a top aide of Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i over planning and organisation of Gusii Sevens Rugby tournament.
On Saturday, reports emerged of Mr Osoro and former Kitutu Chache South aspirant Antony Kibagendi launching onslaught against Matiang'i over the tournament. The top aide in the center of controversy is Jubilee Youth Leader Brian Mamboleo.
In an audio making rounds on social media, Osoro, a close ally of DP Ruto, is heard confronting unidentified journalist over a story that had gone viral over his differences with the interior Ministry.
"You are the one who wrote this story. You write for Hivisasa from Kisii. Learn to do responsible reporting. It's pointless to drive a wedge between me and the minister. Next time you can do better," a furious Osoro is heard saying.
The escalating differences comes at a time Ruto's allies are engaged in a fist fight with Dr Matiang'i over withdrawal of their security details. Despite being a top strategist for Ruto in Gusii region, Osoro was however not affected in the overhaul.
Sources say Mr Osoro and Kibagendi were unhappy over Matiang'i's cold feet towards the tournament. But Mr Mamboleo insists Interior Ministry helped through NACADA.
In an interview with Mamboleo, he insisted the two leaders have ulterior motives against the minister over his participation in various activities across Gusii region.
"Their claims are childish. Let them accept they mismanaged the tournament. You can't organise something in Nairobi and fail to mobilise locals. The poor turnout is as a result of poor ground work," he said.
Mr Kibagendi is Youth Affairs Secretary in the office of the Deputy President. Mr Mamboleo is a confidant of Matiang'i and responsible for logistics when the minister visits Gusii.
